The challenge
The terrace was leaking into two rooms on the floor below. The existing waterproofing was ten years old and had been patched three times with mastic, without result. The fall was insufficient at the rear, where water ponded after every rainfall.
The solution
We stripped the old build-up back to the concrete slab, poured a corrected falls screed towards the new drain and installed a two-layer system: vapour barrier, insulation, APP membrane and slate-finished SBS cap sheet. The parapet upstands were terminated with an aluminium profile and polyurethane sealant.
The result
The job took five working days. After two years and two winters, the terrace is dry and no ponding has appeared. Warranty given: ten years.
